Holistic Formation: January is Spiritual Abuse Awareness Month

Spiritual abuse, a misuse of power and authority within religious settings, deeply wounds individuals and communities, leaving them searching for healing and restoration. To address this critical issue, the Institute for Ministerial Wholeness (IMW) has designated January as Spiritual Abuse Awareness Month. Our mission is to educate, bring awareness, and foster healing for those affected.

IMW will host three webinars this January, each exploring a different facet of spiritual abuse:

  • January 8th: Spiritual Abuse: What are the Signs and Symptoms of the Abused and the Abuser (Part 1) – This webinar will define spiritual abuse, identify harmful behaviors in both victims and perpetrators, and equip attendees to recognize these signs in various contexts.

  • January 15th: Spiritual Abuse: Steps to Healing for Individuals and Organizations (Part 2) – Healing is possible. This session will outline pathways to recovery for individuals and offer strategies for organizations to rebuild trust and integrity.

  • January 22nd: Spiritual Abuse: Stories from the Abused and an Abuser (Part 3) – This webinar will feature real-life stories, providing insight into the impact of spiritual abuse and testimonies of transformation and healing.

These webinars are invaluable for individuals, ministry leaders, and organizations seeking to understand, prevent, and heal from spiritual abuse. Through open conversations and shared experiences, we hope to break the silence surrounding this issue and inspire tangible change in faith communities.

Join us this January as we bring hope and wholeness to those impacted by spiritual abuse. Together, we can create safer, healthier spiritual environments for all.
